FEUD

As your all aware of the like loathe relationship between pete townsend and neil.....i think i might have played a small.....(very small in petes case) part in that.....goes way back to the late 70's when the who played newcastle city hall...id never heard of the *who*...but i was starting my career as a groupie and was reliably informed that they were big.....so i hung out back stage as you do waiting for the aftershow party...ok i had to give a doorman a BJ to gain access but that was all part of the job....they came off stage all sweating and high on adrenalin at what had been a very good gig.....the geordie crowd known for being savage and hostile had been on their best behavour and only wrecked half the joint that night....i was aiming for the lead singer rodger...but was trampled under foot by a herd of over-sized geordie women who made mick macmanus look femme......anyway i digress...i was lain on the floor in a crumpled heap when a hand reached out to pic me up......groupie he enquired.....to which i replied yes....famous rock star i asked....yes he replied....might i ask which one are you....why im pete townsend...guitarist with the who.....oh! that'l do nicely.....i said with a grin.....so we made our way to the dingy back stage toilets and had quite a bunk up against the toilet wall......i couldnt help but notice graffiti on the wall saying...THE WHO?...so after the bunk up we gathered ourselves and went our seperate ways.....thought no more about it till years later when neil got a top secret invotation to pete townsends this is your life show.....he was to be the surprize guest at the end as petes alleged stalker......i was following on neils coat tails as you do as a groupie ....the show climaxed to the revealing of the mysterie guest (neil)....and pete was somewhat perplexed as to who he was till the host explaind ...your life long stalker...the man to whom your solicitor has served many a injuction on...mr neil emery.....it was awkward to say the least....pete wasnt happy he thought the surprize guest was going to be keith moon resurected...back stage at the aftershow party pete and neil came to an understanding and pete was warming to neil at last the hatchet was burried....then i came in and neil introduced me as his groupie.....i dont think so hissed pete in a spiteful voice...she was my groupie way back ..i had her first.....so what retorted neil ...shes with me now....the room fell silent...one of the bouncers ushered them to the corridoor.....i watched in anticapation knowing they were fighting over me.....angry words were exchanged ...fists were shaken in each others faces...then neil handed pete a tigerseye plectrum and they shook hands....we promptly left the do...(well we were slung out) and i asked neil what had happened....i did a deal with pete...i get to keep you as my groupie if i handed back his lucky tigerseye plectrum i stole from him sometime ago......so there you have it some insight into the on going feud of pete and neil...which ive heard is still going to this day...
