A CHILLING TALE...

i have a theory about ghosts....i have seen things and heard many a tale about them...this is true..some years back when my sisters daughter was a baby...she 's 35 now,..my sisters friend gave her a stuffed giraffe to give to her baby daughter...she placed it at the bottom of the cot...strange things started happening..the bedroom door use to jam shut so you had to push it quite hard to open it..when my sister and her husband were in bed with the cot at the foot of the bed..the door would be forced open and in would float a little girl about 4 years old..she would go up to the cot look in then disappear...ive seen it too..objects would be moved..i saw the teapot shoot of the hearth one night...when i used to babysit for her i was about 13 ..i was always afraid...the atmosphere was uneasy...a few weeks later my sister learned that the woman who gave her the giraffe had infact lost her little girl...she died from neglect..aged about 4..abused..starved of food and love..the ghost was the lost soul of that little girl...looking for her toy..and a little love no doubt..after we learned this we wern't afraid anymore..she has moved to every house that my sister has lived in...lots have seen her ...grown men have jumped out their skin at her antics...over the years she appears less and less...we think she somehow found peace and her spirit is lighter now....i have this theory that ghosts are like photographs and videos when you see one its a play back of time gone by caught in a moment...like a photograph only naturally..i live alone now and spent alot of time alone when chantal was staying out...i tend to wander around the house at night in the dark..i never put the light on if i need to get up for something...i have this thought that theres a ghost dancing behind me going "yooohooo im here...look at me...ooooo!"...lol...and i just am totally oblivious to it...then when i dont give it the desired effect as in jumping out my skin it floats off back in to the ether with its head hung low and a right cob on..lol...the pic above is a snow ghost..i put this up cause i love the pic ..i love winter trees...dont have nightmares now...lol....

Ah Gypsy

I have seen ghosts, but have never had any reason to be truly afraid.

The only thing I've been afraid of is my imagination...

I have screamed in the dark.

The photo is beautiful.

I live by a small bridge over a creek that runs by our house & the "snow ghosts" visit every winter.
Their favourite trick is to slick up the bridge deck with frost...

I am glad that little girl has found her peace.

Imprints..that's what they are. I've never been aware of any ghosts, but I feel sure that they'd be harmless, maybe just sad sometimes, like your little girl.

I loved the ghosts in the early Harry Potter books. Haven't read the later ones, so don't know if they're still there. They were such characters!

That's a truly lovely photo Gypsy.

I guess we all have ghosts following us around, don't we?..;-)

I love the idea of your ghost going yoohoo, I'm here...and then hiding when you look round..would be fun to have a companion like that.

Just read your post again, Gypsy. It's very moving tooo. Would be great if the little girl had found some peace and love in following your sister's family around..touching

Ps..what's that tatoo on your shoulder? I can't quite figure it out.

Hi Gypsy,

That's an interesting theory on ghosts - the moment in time thing. I never really thought about it that way - just kind of lost souls. I haven't seen a ghost, but I've felt the spirits (lest anyone think I'm nuts on here), and told them to go away....and they did...then I felt badly because I knew who the person was. I hope he found peace at some point. Oh well - I do think spirits come attached to stuff, like a stuffed animal. You never know what you're going to get with antiques and old jewellery and stuff!

My husband the scientist thinks I'm mad for believing in this stuff! *L*

Hi Gypsy,
we had a ghost in the first house I ever bought, which was shared with my brother. The gentleman in question walked into their main closet, which had once had stairs to the attic but was now sealed off.
I like your theory- I've always thought of ghosts as being just off in terms of the time/space continuum, and that we must appear just the same to them, and because of the fissure, neither one of us can quite communicate with them.

Great picture. It cooled me to look at it. Sweltering sauna here in Berlin. Fantastic Who show.

Cheers,
AM

bobsgirl sent info to your blog...anne marie glad you enjoyed the who..fanstastic time your having in europe..i like your theory too...its like when you see a ghost its like a video of the past caught in time playing for you to see but like you say are we appearing like that to them ..and the time and relativity is a huge subject to get in to..i believe in time travel...and the past present and future all exsisting at once..
