Wow Gypsy... change can be tough.

It can also be scary yet exciting...

I like the idea you put about the non secure security blanket - kind of like comfort in the familiar, no matter how distasteful the familiar can be...

Are you buying a new house?

What does changing your name by deed poll mean?
Do you mean you won't be Gypsy any more?

OH NO!

I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

I've got my fingers, toes, eyes, ears and nose all crossed for you...

Huddles
from me to you!

i shall be renting dale..im moving on by choice..i love this house..ive been here nearlly 12 years the longest ive ever been in one place..ive painted every inch of the walls and stripped and varnished every floorboard..i love the fact that this house does'nt have one square room and all the walls are crooked..i could stay here for ever but the circumstances are all wrong..deed poll is an official procedure you undertake by law to change your name..i kept my marital name *price* for chantals sake so as not to confuse things as she grew up..but now she is married im going back to my maiden name..been divorced for 19 years i think it is time..fear not my friend..gypsy is included in my official title..*catherine marie gypsy glenton*...that is who i am now...hello...

Wow, I never knew that was your name. That's such a pretty name!! I never understood why people kept their married names after they got divorced, but your reasoning makes perfect sense. I think some peopl can't be bothered too.

I have an aunt and uncle who have been divorced for 13 years and now they are remarrying (to each other again) in December. I guess it's a good thing my aunt didn't go back to her maiden name...though getting back with the same person is a strange circumstance!

Good luck with your new place! Change is a good thing sometimes - a nice, fresh start. New home, new name...it's all good as long as the Gypsy we know and love is still here on blogger! :)

We are all only on the way home...

I commend you for keeping your married name for Chantal's sake, but now that she has accepted her new name, so must you regain your own.

A house with crooked walls and not a square to be found must have a unique personality.

Your new home will certainly find its own personality with you living under its roof!

I do understand strong ties to a home, as I tend to be very rooted in my own wee house and garden along the creek.
I cannot imagine living anywhere else right now.

Just think of the new possibilities!

Love
Dale

Hello my dear,
I am in the same process. I got my divorce, almost ten years after the marriage actually ended in separation, and then never bothered to change back (too lazy, too much papework, all the usual excuses...) After my father died, I thought it was time to start it, and then I just didn't get around to it. Well, I did it about a month ago, and I'm still waiting for it all to go through. I want to remarry with my former name, and then I will keep it. I should never have changed it, and got some bad legal advice about it 16 years ago.

Good luck with the change- I am with you, and I understand what you're going through. Like Dale says, your reasons were selfless, and I admire you for that, and you are sweet with any name indeed.

Gosh Major Change and I are great friends...he's a bit pushy though and not very sensitive. Sounds like we all have similar experiences with him. Notorious! I had to give up my house and move to a rental-from Sedona to London! Still have my married name, which I don't like - but it allows me two faces...hee hee.

Remember to make the Major a cup of tea now and again and take a long walk!

Brandy! Or else you could go green and give him some jasmine tea - boot him out the door and then slam it shut! Lock it with 50 chains, lose the key put Alfie the Wonder X Rated Cat on guard!

Aha Gypsy - you will take your love, insight and wit wherever you go!

... it's not so much the destination as it is the journey.

I have such a good sense of direction that no matter how much I try to lose myself... I can't.

...now how frustrating is that?
